SOLAR POOL HEATING
No matter the size of your swimming pool, private or commercial, Bauer Power can help you to
take advantage of one of the most economical forms of solar energy. The power of the sun will
produce the perfect water temperature - providing comfortable, economical, and environmentally
sound results.
Solar heating systems are nearly maintenance free and can be added easily to new and old
swimming pools, often utilizing the existing filter pump. The results can be phenomenal, even
adding length to your swimming season and reducing maintenance and operating costs.

Michigan's Solar Energy
We get 20% less solar energy annually
then Jacksonville Florida, in fact in many
months the same amount, being four
hours, of insolation (amount of solar energy
in hours hitting the earth) as northern
California! Yes the panels work in overcast,
they will produce 20-30% of their normal
performance. Solar hot water is even more
efficient (90% vs 20%) then PV!
How Much Power Solar Energy
Can Make
With two collectors facing south, an 80
gallon tank for storage should make about
57% of a four-person family's hot water
needs, including showers, baths, laundry
and dish washing.
Three collectors and a 120 gallon solar
storage tank will meet 54% of the water
needs of a family of five or six.
Typical systems take 55-degree ground
water and use electricity to bring that water
up to 120-130 degrees. Solar hot water
systems divert that water through solar
panels that heat the water to 90-150
degrees prior to storage, thereby keeping
the existing hot water heating system
requirements to a minimum.
